- I have tried transferring the files using PC exchange on the MAC as
- well. I like you have found that half (on average) the images are
- "garbled" I believe this is something happening only when using PC
- exchange. I therefore dumped the program. I am now happily converting
- things back and forth using CrossMac on the Amiga. So far I've had no
- problems except when trying to read a MAC formatted Hard drive with more
- than one partition. It seems for some reason or other only the first
- partition can be seen. The nice thing about using CrossMac is you can
- set options to display the resource fork, the data fork, both at the
- same time or one or the other or as one .bin file. Nice for
- transferring fonts. The other thing about CrossMac is that there's a
- database program to keep track of creator and file IDs when
- transfferring programs and files from the Amiga to the MAC.

- Yes Dpaint on the PC does not check IFF chunks properly and assumes
- they follow a certain order which is not neccessarily the case. The
- animation program put out by electronic arts doesn't even check to make
- sure the file size is not 320x200 and will crash if you load a larger
- image (ie 640x400).
-
- As for TIFF... TIFF supports both the Intel and Motorola ways of
- storing bits. One has the most significant bit on one end of the byte
- the other has the most significant bit on the opposite side of the
- byte. This is why GIF format can be read so much faster on the PC and
- why IFF files take longer to uncompress on the PC. Usually when saving
- a TIFF (on an Amiga or MAC) you get an option whether you want to save
- the Tiff for the 68xxx or the Intel format. The IBM as far as I've seen
- only allows you to save Intel and doesn't even give you the option.
- Big egos I guess :->.
-
- Just some info I thought you should know.
